"Thank you so much for your blog. I found you on the forums@indeed and came right over. Thanks to you, I realized that I can list all the experience I have gained during my studies as actual experince! I never thought of that. Now instead of leaving the experience portion on applications blank I can put in 1 year! Im excited! Im preparing to apply for ALL the jobs I can find this week."
Yes, yes, yes.... use all the reports and materials from your training to incorporate into your MT resume to sell yourself on your first medical transcription job. For new graduates, that's kind of what we have to elaborate on, our EXPERIENCE gained through our training. Also, find out how many reports you have done through the course and which specialties you have worked on - this can be incorporated in your resume as well as a selling point at your interview.
How exciting!
Also, as I have mentioned in previous posts, if you are looking for more of an entry level position, look for the clinic notes. They are easiest out of all the specialties and great for new graduates, giving them experience as well as confidence to branch out from there. Back in January I listed some medical transcription companies that hire new graduates, so check that out and apply to ALL the jobs you can!!
I would like to hear of your experiences as you go through the process and the companies you have worked for - I think it would really help other new graduates with their process as they find their first MT job.
I think one of my future post will be giving an example of an MT resume and cover letter. I think it will help a lot of new graduates, giving them ideas of what their new resume as an MT should look like and what content should be used in their cover letter. If you are interested - check back soon. I will make it a goal to get that up by the beginning of next week.
Good luck on your job hunt and I do wish you the very best!
Have a great day :)
